We’ve launched Distilled 2025 - our annual Consumer Trends Report.
Overview
In 1888, a team of sugar millers turned molasses into what quickly became known as Bundaberg Rum. In 1965, an inventive duo created Australia’s first premix drink, UDL, which remains hugely popular to this day. With the same entrepreneurial spirit as the legends of our past, we strive to push our Australian business even further, lifting people and the environment up with us.

Spirit of Progress
As part of Spirit of Progress , our 10-year action plan, we're committed to making a positive impact on Australia. On the people, on the environment, and in the future.
Promote positive drinking
We want to play an active role in improving the drinking culture in Australia. By working in partnership with the government, the industry and the community, we're able to deliver effective programs and education campaigns.
- DRINKiQ: As our flagship responsible drinking programme, it plays a crucial role in raising awareness among consumers in Australia.
- DrinkWise: We're proud to be a key financial contributor and founding member of DrinkWise, a not-for-profit organisation which aims to bring about a healthier and safer drinking culture in Australia.
- The Wake Up Foundation: Rolled out across schools, clubs and community groups, this vital partnership helps young people understand alcohol and its effects.
- SMASHED Online: In 2021, we launched our underage drinking campaign digitally across the country.
Pioneer grain-to-glass sustainability
From promoting sustainable agriculture to sourcing local ingredients, we work hard to protect and preserve Britain's natural resources and to help local people, businesses and communities alike.
- Diageo Water Blueprint: In line with our global water stewardship programme, we seek to reduce the amount of water we use and help preserve Australia's available sources.
- Cutting carbon: We are focused on reducing our carbon footprint and being more efficient in delivering effective manufacturing and business activities in a low-carbon future.
- The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) is a not-for-profit organisation leading the development of a circular economy for packaging in Australia. Their vision is for sustainable packaging across the value chain and through industry collaboration, keeping packaging out of landfill.
APCO manages and administers the Australian Packaging Covenant of which Diageo Australia is a signatory. This Covenant is Australia’s national regulatory framework that defines the collective responsibility shared by governments and businesses in managing the environmental impact of packaging. It’s aligned with our own commitment globally to make our packaging more sustainable and as a signatory you can view and download our APCO Annual Report and Action Plan.
