At Diageo, we are committed to nurturing the most inclusive and diverse culture, as well as shaping market-leading policies and practices because it is both the right thing to do and helps our business grow. This is integral to our purpose of “celebrating life, everyday, everywhere.” This commitment applies to the way in which we attract, develop and retain talent, how we celebrate diversity and challenge stereotypes through our brands, and how we create a more equal society and opportunities for everyone through our work with our suppliers and within the communities in which we operate.

To shape a more diverse and successful long-term business and society requires ambition and action, which is why we’ve set bold goals as part of our ‘Spirit of Progress’ ESG action plan, including 50% representation of women in leadership roles and 45% from ethnically diverse backgrounds by 2030.

We believe there is power in diversity. When diverse groups work together, greater success can be achieved. We want to attract, grow and retain the most diverse talent that reflects our consumer base. Building on the Guinness heritage, our commitment starts with our people. Our ambition is to create the most inclusive and diverse culture, to ensure all our people thrive. We believe we have some of the most progressive work practices in Ireland.

Diageo Republic of Ireland

Under the Ireland Gender Pay Gap Act 2021, all legal entities in the Republic of Ireland with more than 150 employees are required to report their gender pay gap. Diageo employs 1012 people in the Republic of Ireland across three legal entities: Diageo Ireland (619), Baileys (188) and Guinness Storehouse (205). As of 2024 all Diageo entities are in scope for reporting. As in previous years we report separately for Diageo Ireland while providing combined data covering all employees across the Republic of Ireland. These businesses employ people in a mix of office-based roles across functions such as corporate relations, marketing, finance, human resources, procurement and sales, as well as manufacturing roles and field-based sales roles.

In this report, as required by the regulations, we disclose the median and mean (average) pay gaps between men and women’s hourly pay and bonuses, including part-time and temporary roles, and the percentage of men and women receiving benefit in kind, which is now defined as ‘any non-cash benefit of an estimated monetary value and, for the purposes of these Regulations, includes share options and interests in shares.’

Improving gender balance in our organisation and creating a more diverse workforce are key priorities for us. In this report, we provide gender pay gap information for our businesses in the Republic of Ireland. We have been reporting our gender pay gap for our combined entities and Diageo Ireland for three years; each year’s report provides us with an opportunity to learn and grow. In this report we explain our pay gap, how we are addressing it and the opportunities to improve.

Our mean pay gap for our three businesses has increased from +2.9% in 2023 to +6.5% in 2024 and for Diageo Ireland from +5.4% in 2023 to +6.8% in 2024. We are pleased to report that the number of female and male employees is the closest to 50/50 since reporting began (44.3% female, 55.7% male) and our mean bonus pay gap is -1.5%, which is the lowest bonus gap since reporting began. We know there is more to do, but we believe the policies and practices we have in place will help to create a more gender balanced company at all levels.
