Montgomery, AL — April 21st, 2026 — Diageo North America today officially opened its new 360,000-square-foot manufacturing and warehousing facility in Montgomery, Alabama, bringing the company’s iconic beverage alcohol brands closer to customers across the Southern United States.

Strategically located at the heart of the company’s Southern U.S. region, and with a multi-million case annual production capacity, ‘Diageo Montgomery’ will build greater resiliency and agility into the company’s supply chain footprint in North America, while making its operations more sustainable.

“The opening of Diageo Montgomery marks an important step forward in building the agile, futureready supply network that our business demands. By placing this facility at the heart of the southern region, we’re not only strengthening our connection to customers, but also setting a new standard for efficient, sustainable manufacturing,” said Marsha McIntosh, President of North America Supply at Diageo. “This site reflects our longterm commitment to accelerating innovation, ensuring our iconic brands reach consumers with greater speed and significantly lower environmental impact, and investing in local communities.”

Diageo Montgomery operations feature several high-performance manufacturing capabilities, all of which enhance efficiency while reducing environmental impact. These include:

  • Five on‑site automated guided vehicles (AGVs), which support lower‑carbon operations by safely and intelligently transporting pallets throughout the site, reducing manual handling and forklift traffic.
  • Advanced technology in high‑speed bottling lines enhances rinsing and inspection capabilities, while increasing bottle size changeover speed and liquid blending accuracy.
  • Energy‑efficient infrastructure heated by electric boilers for sanitation and bottle‑filling operations, with emergency back‑up provided by an innovative battery energy storage system.
  • Advanced water and energy metering technology will provide real‑time visibility into resource use across the facility, enabling data‑driven decisions that improve efficiency and advance Diageo’s long‑term sustainability goals.

Diageo Montgomery also benefits from excellent access to local transport infrastructure, including road and rail, with its strategic location reducing transportation distances and significantly lowering carbon emissions associated with logistics operations.

Economic and Social Impact Across Alabama

“Diageo’s continued investment in Montgomery is a strong testament to Alabama’s ability to attract and retain world-class companies,” said Alabama Governor Kay Ivey. “This facility not only brings quality jobs to our state, but also strengthens our position as a leader in manufacturing and global commerce. We are proud to support Diageo’s growth and the lasting impact it will have on our communities.”

Representing an investment of approximately $415 million, Diageo Montgomery will employ around 100 full‑time team members. It also supported approximately 750 jobs during the construction phase, delivering meaningful economic impact to the surrounding Montgomery area and state of Alabama.

“Diageo’s investment speaks to the momentum we’re building in Montgomery and the opportunities ahead for our community,” said Mayor Steven L. Reed of the City of Montgomery. “This is about more than economic growth—it’s about creating quality jobs, expanding opportunity, and building pathways for our residents. We’re proud to welcome Diageo as part of a stronger, more inclusive future for our city and the entire region."

“Diageo’s decision to expand is a major vote of confidence in Montgomery County. It speaks volumes about the strength of our workforce and the strategic advantages our region offers,” said Doug Singleton, Montgomery County Commission Chairman. This investment not only creates new opportunities for our residents but also drives long-term economic growth across Central Alabama. We are proud to partner with Diageo as they continue to grow and invest in our region"

“Diageo’s investment in Montgomery has taken shape over several years - and this moment shows what’s possible when partners stay aligned from start to finish,” said Anna Buckalew, President and CEO of the Montgomery Regional Chamber. “From state and local leadership to infrastructure and utilities, it reflects the coordination required to bring it to life. This facility strengthens our manufacturing and logistics base - particularly in beverage production - creates new opportunities for our workforce, both now and for the next generation, and drives long-term growth for the Capital Region.”

Beyond job creation, Diageo has also invested in the next generation of leaders across the state. As part of its broader commitment to supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Minority‑Serving Institutions (MSIs), Diageo has invested $750,000 across Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, and Tuskegee University, providing scholarships and financial support to students and helping strengthen pathways to future career opportunities.
