We're a global leader in premium drinks, one of the most dynamic consumer categories.
Our people have different experiences, backgrounds, habits, and circumstances. And each set-up an individual needs to do their best work differs for everyone. That’s why we’ve designed wellbeing and flexible working philosophies that everyone at Diageo can benefit from.
Our philosophy
Our people across the world are what makes us unique, and we’re committed to supporting their mental health and wellbeing, whether that be mental, financial, social, or physical. We want our people to thrive and be able to be their best at both work and home. We play an active role in nurturing an open and inclusive culture, enabled by our leaders, by providing progressive policies and supporting tools.
It’s why we design our workplaces, rewards, and benefits with wellbeing in mind. And it’s why our philosophy helps us to create a supportive environment in which our people can have fulfilling career experiences, with access to a wealth of resources and tools to help each individual take control of their own wellbeing, because we know no one size fits all.

sufficiently supporting their health and wellbeing1
We look at wellbeing as a whole. From physical and mental health to social, emotional and financial wellbeing, everything is connected. That’s why we create an environment where our people feel supported, included and able to thrive - at work and beyond.
To thrive physically requires understanding and managing of health.
It’s about the everyday choices we make to support good health, reduce the risk of preventable illness and maintain balance of bond and mind over time.
We support our people with practical benefits, resources and standards that reflect different life stages and needs. This includes support on areas like menopause, sleep, men’s and women’s health, financial wellbeing and broader health education, helping us build and maintain our wellbeing over time.
Financial wellbeing is about a sense of security.
Financial wellbeing is about feeling confident and in control of our money day to day. It means being able to meet commitments, plan ahead and manage through change or unexpected pressure.
We support our people with benefits, resources and education to build financial confidence over time, recognising that needs and priorities change at different stages of life and career.
Mental wellbeing is influenced by a variety of factors.
Mental wellbeing is shaped by many things in our lives and work. It’s about how we understand and manage our emotions, cope with stress and respond to change, challenges or uncertainty.
When our mental wellbeing is supported, it helps us build resilience, strengthen relationships and keep getting better, both at work and beyond.
We know mental health matters. The World Health Organization estimates that around 15% of working-age adults are living with a mental health condition at any time. That’s why we’re committed to creating an environment where it’s understood, supported and openly talked about.
How we support our people:
- Our leaders share their own experiences, helping to normalise conversations through moments like World Mental Health Day.
- We support line managers to look after their own wellbeing and have open, proactive conversations with their teams.
- Our people have access to global support, including mental health resources and our Employee Assistance Programme, offering free, confidential counselling and advice 24/7.
- We track our impact, using insight to keep improving support for our people and our business.
Social wellbeing is about feeling connected, included and able to belong.
It’s shaped by the relationships we build and how we work together, from collaborating and resolving differences to adapting to change. Strong connections with colleagues, friends, family and our wider communities help improve your social wellbeing.
We support social wellbeing through inclusive ways of working and our Employee Resource Groups, creating opportunities for our people to connect, learn from each other and feel valued and included.
Flexible working
We’ve always taken a progressive approach to flexible working. It’s a key part of how we support wellbeing and how we work today.
We believe flexibility and trust go hand in hand. Giving our people more choice in how, when and where they work helps us keep getting better. We know flexibility looks different for everyone. It might be working hours, patterns or a blend of home and office life. It’s a two-way conversation, built on trust, shared responsibility and clear expectations.
Our people work together to agree what works for them and their teams. Whether it’s a one-off change or a more regular arrangement, flexibility is shaped around individual needs, team priorities and how we work best together.
