5 reasons to celebrate with Guinness this St Patrick’s Day

17 Mar 2021

This week marks a year since the world went into lockdown. It is hard to believe that for many of us, we will still be celebrating another St Patrick’s Day from home in 2021. However, if we’ve learned anything in the past year, we know that this occasion will be just as relevant to Guinness and our fans around the world as ever before. Indeed, the Guinness team will be continuing the St. Patrick''s Day tradition of ringing the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange for the 14th year in a row, albeit virtually! So, on March 17th, here are 5 reasons to celebrate with Guinness this St. Patrick’s Day. Sláinte!

1. Invite the best of the pub into your home!

We cannot wait for pubs, bars and clubs to open their doors again when it is safe to do so. We know how hard times are for bar-owners and bartenders around the world and that is why we’re supporting the trade with bartender support funds, keg uplifts and through Diageo’s global programme, “Raising the Bar”.  This year, please join us for an incredible evening of entertainment with a Guinness “Best of the Pub’ virtual event, headlined by global superstar, One Direction singer and Guinness fan Niall Horan. Subscribe to our Guinness Europe YouTube channel to watch live at 17.59 on St Patricks Day.

2. Exciting innovation pipeline

Our brewing methods might have been passed down since Arthur Guinness’ time, but they never stop evolving. We have an exciting pipeline of innovations this year including Guinness Smooth, live in six markets across Africa and recently launched in Latin America and Asia, Guinness Zero, and Guinness Nitro Coffee which has launched in North America.

3. Hear behind the scenes with our Guinness archivist

There have been many milestones in the Guinness story, from its humble beginnings in 1759 to the present day. These last twelve months will be another chapter. This St Patrick’s Day learn more about the history of Guinness and Dublin and tune in to a behind the scenes podcast with our Guinness archivist Eibhlin Colgin as she takes you through the historic streets around the brewery at St James’ Gate. Wednesday 17th: 16.00 pm GMT / 12.00 pm EST.

4. Guinness in action

Whether it’s the Six Nations Rugby Championship, English Premier League football in Africa, or Cheltenham Festival, through in-store activations or e-commerce platforms you can now get Guinness to your front door on match day.

5. A pint of the black stuff!

Whether it is a creamy pint, a can of Guinness Draught, a cold bottle of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout, a Guinness Smooth or a deliciously indulgent Guinness Nitro Coffee join us in raising a glass to this iconic brand and to all those bartenders and owners around the world who are working so hard to keep the trade going. Here’s to you all. SLÁINTE!
