We sit down with Robyn McPherson, Product Integration Manager based at our bottling and packaging site in Leven, Scotland to talk about her fascinating career journey so far from electrical apprentice to leadership.

Describe a typical day in your role?

The two main things I work on is looking after the Capital Expenditure plan for Leven which is essentially our improvement pot of money, and I'm also working closely on another Project at Leven, which is the installation of a new bottling line. I'm overseeing the engineering integration for that project.

What surprised you most about the site?

When I first started, it was probably the variety of different departments on site. Even if you drive past the site, you don't quite understand the scale of what goes on, but it's very multifunctional, which is great.

What has your career journey looked like leading up to this role?

I've had quite a big range of roles since I joined. I've been here for 11 years. Originally started as an electrical apprentice and then worked in the site engineering department for several years on site.

I was involved in the setup of an engineering compliance department within the team, worked in electrical compliance in there, and then I took over managing that team for a couple of years as well, went on maternity leave for a year, and then came back into my current position.

What skills have you gained throughout your career with us?

I have gained skills around problem solving while working on improvement opportunities, creating strategies and a lot of organisation and people management as I have progressed in my career here.

What would you say to someone considering a career with us?

I'd say go for it, the experience I've had here has been absolutely brilliant. From being an apprentice to moving into leadership roles, I've been so well supported throughout that. The company's also put me through my degree, so I've got my engineering degree since starting here as well, which I am so fortunate for. There's just so many opportunities. Everybody's happy to help. There's a lot of collaboration, and there's just so many opportunities.
