Tara Hunt de Vries is the General Counsel of Diageo North America and leads the legal function for the United States and Canada. She is passionate about cultivating possibility and positivity, creating environments in which diverse teams can thrive.
Since joining Diageo in 2004, Tara has held a number of roles across Europe, Latin America and North America. Most recently, she served as General Counsel for Business Development & Protection, leading M&A, antitrust, litigation, external investigations and brand protection globally. In addition to her legal roles, Tara spent two formative years leading Diageo’s North American HR function. Prior to joining Diageo, Tara was an associate at White & Case LLP, specializing in litigation and antitrust.
Tara currently serves on the Board of Pronghorn, an initiative to diversify the spirits ecosystem and previously served on the Board of the Alliance Against Counterfeit Spirits from 2020-2025. Tara lives in New York City with her husband and daughter and is committed to pro bono legal work in her community. She loves to explore new places and is an avid reader.
