Job Description

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure that theTax Complianceprocessesof theSouth Korea market as wellas the tax accountingof the Vietnam marketare undertaken accurately, efficiently (utilising automation) and on time and the surrounding internal control procedures, legislative requirements are strictly adhered to.

  • Ensuringthatcomplex direct and indirect taxes and connectedsupplementary returnsfor the South Koreamarketare prepared according to the global standard process and controls, local DTPs, on time and utilising automation tools where applicable. 

  • Managing routine tax-related audit enquiries andtaxprojects for your marketsin cooperation with tax manager. Acting as back-up for the tax manager upon request. 

  • Ensuring compliance with market specific regulatory requirements and legislative changes working closely with Globaland LocalSMEs.

  • Providingclose supportoftax-related advisory topics in the scope falling under own remit. 

  • Actively managing and coordinatingtax-relateddocument retention for your markets.

  • Takingresponsibility for the day-to-day tasksrequired.

  • Providing decision support for business partners through value-add analysis, thorough understanding of movements on accounts, the business reason behind those, and collection and presentation of Risk & Opportunities

  • Ensuringsmooth andaccuratemonth-end closes

  • Preparing postaccruals/adjustments/other required journalsfor the assigned marketsto ensure the month-end results showaclear and fair picture

  • PreparingqualityGLreconciliationsfor the assigned markets, including customs & excise accounts,through deep understanding of the figures supportedand reported

  • Ensuring that financial processes are undertaken accurately, efficiently, on time and that the surrounding internal control procedures are strictly adhered to in line with CARM processes

  • Maximizing benefits of globalized system processes

  • Setting work priorities and in general independence of work activities

  • Identifyingand driving continuous process improvement in cooperation with the tax manager throughestablishinga LEAN approach to drive effectiveness and efficiency - supporting process improvements and rollout ofstandardisedprocesses and automation re in scope markets.

  • Contributingideas, energy,enthusiasmand support to the continuous improvement of the processes.

  • Promptly responding to market queries in respect of markets in her/his responsibility and supporting indirect tax leaders, tax managers, SMEs in non-routine questions, global projects, and during tax audits in her/his competency.

  • Continuouslymaintainingexcellent personal and businessrelationshipswith the market andin-housestakeholders

  • Proactivelysupportinginternal projects tofacilitatethe ongoing transformation and improvement of Diageo’s Global Tax function (including providing relevant information, answering ad hocrequestsand suggesting alternative ways of working)

Experience required/Skills/Capabilities/Languages

  • University / College degree in finance / accounting / business / CPA

  • At least4-5years working experience in a multinational corporate environment

  • Proventrack recordinFinancial Accounting / Reporting, Taxation and/or Financial Controlling experience is strongly preferred.

  • Goodunderstanding of the alcoholic beverage industry, including the customs & excise requirements

  • Internal / external audit experience and/or SOX is an advantage

  • Experience with Shared services process activities is an advantage

  • Capable of working in a deadline driven environment. 

  • Experience of working in a multi-national financial environment 

  • Hard working personality, flexibilityfor adopting to change with positive attitude

  • Fluent in English, able to communicate effectivelyto build strong relationships with operational staff and stakeholders

  • Relevant experience with SAP
