About the role

It is an extraordinary opportunity to shape the future of Diageo. We are looking for a curious, motivated, and highly experienced strategic planner who can bring sharp insight and consumer-and-shopper-centric thinking to the heart of our decision making, from development of our growth strategies to execution drivers. It will also support key strategic planning projects for the business, working closely with Innovation, Customer Marketing, and Marketing teams.  This role reports to the Head of Consumer Connections. 

The role will take care of total business with ideas and insights that sell more. Our function is rooted in a philosophy and approach passionate about long-term goals, and goes well beyond functional research delivery.  

Your Key Responsibilities 

  • ​Inspiring leadership and effective influencing skills across a diverse partner group, leading to genuine impact on delivering our ambition.  

  • Proactive fueling the business with consumer/ shopper led provocations and implications to drive penetration grow 

  • Integrative thinking to synthesize data and understanding from multiple sources in few core messages in a practical way 

  • Be externally diligent - to culture, trends & market place dynamics,  to detect the factors that could positively or negatively impact growth 

  • Tenacious prioritization 

  • Lead the planning agenda, partnering with the brand and customer marketing teams on the development of category strategy, portfolio strategy, learning plans, creative development, and marketing business plans 

  • Proactively defines and communicates opportunities for growth for the market, categories, and brands and articulates what it will take to realize these opportunities. 

  • Influences the business to make the right consumer/shopper led strategic and commercially savvy decisions. 

  • Champion continuous optimization by ensuring measurement and evaluation are coordinated with learning plans. Regularly apply these to support growth and improve the efficiency of our A&P spend. Manage research and planning budgets effectively.   

About you

+7 years of Marketing/Consumer Research for FMCG, either at agency or client side 

  • Communicator and influencing skills across senior levels to engage and drive consumer-centricity on decision-making. 

  • Externally attentive (customers, competitors, economics, business trends, etc) to ensure the plans reflect opportunities and issues 

  • Experience across all stages of primary and secondary research, from methodology selection to vendor management; while ensuring the results are delivered in clear and concise way. 

  • Strong Analytical Skills and ability to distill multiple set of data to uncover insights and turning them into concrete business recommendations 

  • Experience in working in multicultural complex environments 

  • Proficient in Italian and English.
