Role Purpose

This role supports the development and implementation of robust compliance and assurance processes for the Group’s non-financial reporting. Working closely with Finance, ESG teams, and other functional stakeholders, you will help ensure high-quality, consistent, and audit-ready ESG disclosures while contributing to continuous improvement across reporting processes and controls.

You will coordinate the external assurance process with PwC, support the annual reporting cycle, and help resolve implementation challenges across teams. The role also contributes to ESG reporting initiatives led by Environment and Social/Governance teams, with a focus on strong governance, control compliance, and reliable reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • ESG Reporting Coordination – Support harmonised ESG reporting by collaborating with Environment, Social, Governance, and internal reporting teams. Contribute to documenting and improving ESG reporting processes and monitor developments in reporting standards.

  • External Assurance – Coordinate the end-to-end ESG assurance process with PwC, support documentation preparation, track assurance queries, and prepare materials for Finance and Audit Committee discussions.

  • Double Materiality – Coordinate the double materiality assessment process, including timelines, data collection, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring outputs are clear and auditable.

  • Controls & Audit Readiness – Support the design and documentation of ESG internal controls, maintain evidence for audits, and coordinate responses to auditor queries.

  • Systems Governance – Help oversee ESG reporting systems such as Microsoft Sustainability Manager and wDesk to ensure reliable and traceable data.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – Support communication with senior leaders through briefing materials, presentations, and coordination of follow-ups.

This is an individual contributor role offering strong ownership, visibility, and impact across the organisation.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance / Business Administration / Economics

  • 5+ years of professional experience in ESG or environmental fields (e.g. carbon, water, or waste management)

  • Experience in audit and controls and with Sarbanes-Oxley / CARM compliance

  • Proficient and confident English

  • Proven experience delivering outcomes through indirect reports in a matrix organisation

  • Knowledge of ESG disclosure trends and standard methodologies

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a consistent record of senior partner management and influence

  • Solid understanding of end-to-end processes and internal controls, including design and operation

  • Ability to solve complex issues with clear ownership and accountability

  • Comfortable operating independently with limited supervision

  • Ability to provide sound advice on complex technical matters

  • Experience with ESG and non-financial data reporting, including data assurance processes

  • Highly developed influencing and communication skills capable of deliver through others in approachable language

  • Experience in managing a geographically dispersed organisation, and an instinctive sense of where to focus across departments and countries.

Nice to have:

  • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CPA) - extensive (5+ years) post-qualification experience in an FMCG company;

  • Familiarity with EU, UK, and US sustainability reporting regulations

  • Experience working with TCFD, SASB, and GRI standards
