Job Title: Director - North America Financial Control

About the Role

The North American Regional Financial Controller has full responsibility for financial reporting across all business units within North America, working with the in-market regional Executive team to translate the regional commercial agenda into accounting decisions and translate key accounting initiatives into business decisions that help drive business results.

The role will report into the Diageo Group Controller. He/she will be a critical member of the North America regional Finance Leadership Team and the Controllers’ Group Leadership Team. In addition to the NAM FC team which reports to this role, the role plays a big part in a matrix organization leading all core finance folks based out of NAM given the interdependencies and intertwined nature of the collective delivery. These teams include Demand FP&A, Finance Experience, Supply FP&A, and the NAM leads within other GBO sub functions.  This role provides functional and people leadership to the team.

Experience / skills required:


CA/CPA with at least 18 + years working experience in a multinational corporate environment, with exposure to some or all the following areas:

  • In-market business experience

  • Financial Accounting & Reporting experience (on SAP, accounting standards (IFRS, US GAAP etc.)

  • People management experience

  • Internal / external audit experience and/or SOX

  • Experience with Shared services process activities

  • Process improvement and project management experience

  • Risk assessment

Functional Capabilities

  • Company reporting and controls: Awareness of accounting policies and standards and how they can be established to optimize performance and control risk

  • Process Mastery and Development: Drives and shares best practice across the business and externally. Continuous improvement mindset.

  • Project management: Builds project plans across borders and cultures and monitors progress to ensure successful implementation.

  • Risk management and controls assurance Identifies ways of treating specific risks and puts processes in place to ensure risk is minimized and monitored.
