We’ve launched Distilled 2025 - our annual Consumer Trends Report.
As part of Spirit of Progress, Diageo’s ambition is to accelerate inclusion & diversity in our value chain, increasing our spend with diverse-owned and disadvantaged businesses, each year to 2030.
We consider diverse suppliers as those that are majority owned and operated by one or more individuals belonging to any traditionally underrepresented groups: women, people with disabilities, LGTBQIA+, ethnic minorities or any other underrepresented group in the markets where we source.
We expand the impact of our program by encouraging our suppliers and agency partners to utilize diverse owned and operated suppliers in their own supply chains and embed their own supplier diversity program within their supply chains. We champion equal employee representation with our suppliers, which leads to change across our industry, and ensures economic empowerment of diverse groups.
We believe a value chain built on inclusion and diversity helps drive performance of our other Spirit of Progress goals while also benefiting our consumers and customers and our bottom line.
Our value chain inclusion and diversity progress
In July 2021, we launched our first global Value Chain Inclusion and Diversity Framework, as a part of our Spirit of Progress ambition.
Since then, our spend with diverse-owned and disadvantaged businesses has increased by 71%, and we now work with more than 800 diverse-owned businesses.
We have taken steps to embed inclusive practices throughout our procurement cycle to tackle sourcing bias and accelerate diverse spend. To help us connect with diverse-owned businesses, we’ve worked with advocacy organizations, including WEConnect International, MSDUK and others.
We recognize that diverse businesses can create opportunities to propel growth and innovation, but they also face significant challenges to access corporate spend. We are implementing initiatives aimed at reducing barriers to access Diageo projects. Our Sustainable Supply Chain management program for diverse owned businesses, partners with WEConnect International and IEMA. The goal of this programme is to help diverse-owned companies learn more about sustainable practices and implement them into their operations, to help them become more resilient in global supply chains.
In May 2024, Diageo was awarded Platinum top Global Champion for Supplier Diversity & Inclusion. This award recognises our deep commitment to global inclusive sourcing from diverse groups.
Our procurement team use several sources to identify qualified suppliers. Our partners’ databases are the first stop in our search for qualified diverse business. Registration in their databases will ensure we have your most up to date business information:
