At Diageo we don’t just offer employees a place to work. We offer them a platform to showcase their talents, a safe space to try something new, and the opportunity to create an impact and help shape the future.

We’re passionate about continuous learning and development for our people and are pleased to be funding environmental management training and the subsequent certification via the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) for those working in our Sustainable Procurement and Supply Chain Sustainability teams.

IEMA’s Foundations Certificate in Environmental Management course covers a wide range of environmental, sustainability and governance principles, and gives those taking part the opportunity to build their knowledge of the breadth of the sustainability agenda, and the management tools and skills that they will need whilst working within this area.

The IEMA qualification builds on the extensive programmes already underway at Diageo to upskill our people on sustainability, and drive our ‘Society 2030: Spirit of Progress’ agenda to help create a more inclusive and sustainable world. From our partnership with Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford which educates our senior leaders on ESG, to our internal training programme for marketers which aims to improve the understanding of sustainability throughout the creative processes.

The world around us is changing rapidly, and our people all share the same vision for a brighter tomorrow – one where life is worth celebrating, every day, everywhere.

Hear from some of people who are taking part in the initiative on what this means to them:

“IEMA membership provided the opportunity to expand my knowledge of environmental sustainability. It’s an amazing platform to boost career prospects and proactive networking with experts in the field. The IEMA- Diageo collaboration has been tremendous, and we were supported at each step of this journey. It’s been incredibly useful for me to get insights into environmental issues, management solutions, key policies, and how it can affect our business. It’s also a great start in the direction of harmonization and standardisation of environmental and techno-social policies and assessment tools. I’m really looking forward to enhancing my profile and recognition with IEMA.”

Through gaining Associate status I have felt confident in my expertise in this area, and have felt that my skills are highly valued by Diageo, which is so important to me. I look forward to working on gaining Practitioner status, and excited for the challenge this will bring and the opportunities it will open to me within my current role and beyond.”

“Working with IEMA has allowed me to benchmark the skills and capabilities I have acquired during my career working in Environmental Sustainability, against globally recognised certification levels. This has given me confidence in my abilities but more importantly will allow me to excel in the future through a structured framework of continued training & personal development, as well as an amazing array of online resources. I am excited to become part of a global network of Sustainability Professionals who can share a wealth of real-world experience and knowledge via IEMAs online platforms and forums.”
