We believe everyone who works for us or with us should be able to thrive in an environment that values their contribution and celebrates what makes them unique. It’s why we embrace diversity in all its forms, including disability. We’ve demonstrated this commitment with new disability inclusion guidelines, and we back it up with support for disabled people across our operations.

Employees from around the world have helped produce the guidelines, with our We Are All Able (WAAA) employee resource group, and in partnership with Disability:IN, a non-profit resource for business disability inclusion.

Available in 15 languages, the guidelines cover topics like physical and digital accessibility and recruitment, as well as guidance on disability-inclusive language to help teams have positive conversations. The guidelines also include examples of how we’re supporting people with disabilities in our teams, with partners and communities we work with and through our brands.

In Scotland, our Scotch whisky bottling facility at Shieldhall has offered career opportunities, for a number of internships and an apprenticeship to registered disabled people, enabled through a partnership between WAAA and Fairstart Scotland, a government-funded agency that helps people into employment. The team at Shieldhall have also educated employees to support people of all abilities through training, in partnership with Enable Scotland, covering topics like autism awareness, sensory impairment and assistive technology.

In Kenya, we’ve teamed up with NGO Sightsavers to work with more than 71 smallholder farmers with disabilities who provide sorghum for Senator Keg beer. This is part of our drive to work with more underrepresented groups for a diverse supply chain. With Sightsavers, we’re also making sure people with disabilities have equal access to our Bar Academy and Learning for Life training programmes.
