Diageo's anti-underage drinking programme 'Smashed' launches online

Diageo's anti-underage drinking programme 'Smashed' launches online

4 May 2020

Smashed Online will be made available to over one million students aged 12-14 across 5,500 schools in the UK, equipping students with facts regarding the dangers of underage drinking. Through dramatic theatrical lessons and interactive activities, the programme aims to help increase social awareness and decision-making skills needed to make responsible choices about alcohol when they reach legal drinking age.

The platform builds on the live theatre tour 'The Smashed Project'

The platform builds on the live theatre tour The Smashed Project, which Diageo has supported since it began in 2005, and is now delivered across six continents and 23 countries.

In March, Collingwood Learning was awarded Education Exporter of the Year at the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) Education Resources Awards 2020 for the project.

“We’re excited to be using storytelling and theatre in a brand-new way as we launch online. This will help teachers deliver Personal, Social and Health Education and offer students an engaging programme which makes the risks of underage drinking impossible to forget. We’re thrilled to be supported by Diageo as we launch our first ever e-learning!” - Chris Simes, Collingwood Learning

“We’re really proud to have supported Smashed for the last 15 years and the online launch is fantastic. Smashed is a key part of our commitment to alcohol in society and this e-learning will help us to support schools, teachers and students on a critical topic.” - Dayalan Nayager, Managing Director Great Britain, Ireland, France - Diageo

The online version of the project offers creative and memorable sessions which have been developed in consultation with young people. Teachers and students who’ve already completed the course have described it as ‘fantastic’ and a ‘worthwhile experience’. The e-learning resource is also fully aligned to the PSHE Association’s Programme.

Last year, Smashed Live was performed over 1,000 times in multiple languages, and it’s our ambition to reach five million people around the world by 2025.
