We are committed to ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, contractors and visitors. As critical factors contributing towards business performance, we aim to prevent all workplace accidents and illnesses by taking a proactive approach at all of our locations. This includes conducting our business in compliance with applicable health and safety laws and regulations, company standards, policies and best practices.

Whether based in an office location, manufacturing site or field sales role, we all play a vital role in ensuring our workplace environment and culture is safe and healthy. All locations shall have an occupational health and safety policy appropriate to the opportunities, risks and hazards associated with their business activity.

Health and safety

Our Global health and safety ambition and strategy is designed to ensure all our people are safe when working, on site, at home and on the road, every day, everywhere.

Our Global Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy outlines the current business expectations, responsibilities and core behaviours expected from our leaders and employees.

The policy provides the framework for our new long term global health and safety strategy and will help protect our people and grow our trust and reputation.

Our strategy will ensure we have a world class end to end supply chain health and safety culture and embedded ways of working covering supply and technical centres, commercial and visitor centres, on-site third party contractors and office and home working employees.

We will eliminate the risk of catastrophic events through amplifying our process safety culture and ways of working. Our new Global Process Safety Policy will outline core responsibilities and requirements of our new Process Safety Framework.

Our strategy also focuses on reducing severe and fatal potential events through a refreshed severe and fatal prevention programme, by launching and embedding our Life Saving Rules and refreshed global procedures.

Our zero harm focus will continue to drive all health and safety incidents down to zero for example slips, trips and falls, and manual handling related tasks.

On site

We will ensure our supply, technical, office, commercial based employees are trained and competent to conduct their core tasks safely as well as proactively creating a safe working environment

At home

We will ensure employees are clear on all the hazards and risks associated with working in a home environment, in relation work tasks and equipment.

On the road

We will ensure our employees are clear on the core behaviours required to drive safely every day, everywhere.

A core enabler of our health and safety strategy is growing capability and sharing learnings across our business. This is achieved through our dedicated Global Health and Safety section within our global learning platform, My Learning Hub. These have been designed with simplification in mind and enable employees to easily access health and safety information most relevant to them or easily contact a member of the Global Health and Safety team for support and advice.

Our ambition is to continue to grow Diageo's health and safety culture and performance through strong visible leadership, employee engagement, a robust assessment and control of our key health and safety risks and a positive and collective mindset where everyone is safer together when working on site, at home, on the road every day everywhere.
