Shaping a more equitable society

Case study

As we look to champion inclusion and diversity in the communities in which we operate, we have deepened our commitment to help change the make-up of our industry.

In February 2021, Diageo North America pledged $10 million to create permanent endowments at 25 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country and provide financial assistance to thousands of talented students over the years.

The unique programme will also explore the creation of Innovation Hubs at select institutions to provide students and faculty with a variety of resources that complement traditional learning – including mentorship, lecturers for faculty and students and curriculum development assistance. Diageo also joined the Congressional HBCUs Partnership Challenge to advocate for positive policies that will have lasting impact.

Our brands are also pledging their support. Bulleit Frontier Whiskey partnered with Kentucky State University to commit an annual $25,000 grant to support students in the Master of Agriculture Sciences in Environmental Studies programme for the next five years. With this annual scholarship programme and additional community initiatives, Bulleit aims to promote diversity in the industry and provide opportunities for students from underrepresented backgrounds in the brand's home state of Kentucky.

We look forward to continuing to help shape a more equitable society and strengthening our relationship with the HBCU community.
