We’ve launched Distilled 2025 - our annual Consumer Trends Report.
Overview
Diageo was born from the merger of Guinness and Grand Metropolitan in 1997, and we proudly carry a legacy that dates back to the 17th century. A British company, we are an undisputed leader in the spirits industry and we are driven to be the world’s best brand builder, leading the way in premium drinks.
Our presence in France dates back to 2000 through our MHD (Moët Hennessy Diageo) joint venture. In 2024, we marked a significant milestone with the establishment of Diageo France, which since 1 January 2025 directly handles the marketing and distribution of the full Diageo portfolio in France.
We are leading the emerging 0.0 category in France with the launch of Tanqueray 0.0. This sets the stage for scaling across all routes to market, helping customers seize new opportunities and offering consumers greater choice.
Our brands
Spirit of Progress
Diageo's ambition is to be one of the best performing, most trusted and respected, consumer products companies in the world.
Our 'Spirit of Progress' strategy guides our ESG efforts and focuses on three priorities: promoting responsible drinking, championing inclusion and diversity, and pioneering grain-to-glass sustainability. Doing business the right way is at the core of everything we do.
Promote Responsible Drinking
Responsible consumption is integral to who we are. We empower consumers to make informed choices by providing them with essential information and tools for safe alcohol consumption.
Champion Inclusion & Diversity
We champion inclusion and diversity by seeking talents with diverse backgrounds, skills, and abilities. We are proud members of Open for Business – an alliance supporting LGBT+ inclusion worldwide.
The rollout of our Spirit of Progress agenda in France will also include the launch of Learning4Life, our global program dedicated to fostering education and empowering inclusive communities.
Pioneer Grain-to-Glass Sustainability
Our ambition is to build a resilient supply chain that helps our communities to adapt to climate change, protects our licence to operate and benefits the bottom line of our business. We’re accelerating our focus on water and working towards a low carbon future to address our most significant risks and respond to our greatest opportunities.
Circular Packaging
Our commitment extends to circular packaging solutions:
- All packaging made from glass and cardboard is 100% recyclable.
- Currently incorporating 39% recycled materials in packaging; aiming for 60% by 2030.
- Committed to reducing packaging weight by 10% by 2030.
