Diageo Korea is the market leader in Scotch whisky and enjoys leading positions in the international premium beverage markets.
A hub for the Asian market
Korea is an important manufacturing hub for our business in Asia Pacific, with our production plant at Icheon giving us a strong foothold in the market.
Our Icheon plant covers 64,000m2 and houses production facilities, warehouses for locally produced products and imports and a direct sales store. The plant produces Smirnoff, I.W. Harper, Gilbey’s and Myers’s Rum, chiefly for export to Japan.
The Icheon plant is internally audited at least once every two years, and its license to operate undergoes a strict evaluation process in accordance with relevant laws and the Global Risk Management Standards.
In September 2013, we invested 5 billion KRW to expand the ready-to-drink production line at Icheon. The following year, the plant won the Most Improved Plant Award and the Green Energy Award for its product quality and production capability.
In 2016, Diageo Korea was awarded the $30m Export Tower by the Korea International Trade Association, becoming the first global liquor company to receive the award. We were also awarded Excellence in Quality and Excellence in Environment at the Excellence in Supply Chain Awards in 2017.
Diageo Korea employs around 300 highly skilled people across our operations, including production, manufacturing and sales.
