NEW YORK, NY July 29, 2020 – As companies all around the world are exploring and testing new ways to engage their customers, partners and employees, Diageo, a global leader in beverage alcohol, is proud to announce that its North America business has been recognized by Fast Company’s 50 Best Workplaces for Innovators.

Now in its second year, Fast Company set out to identify those organizations that empower employees, at all levels, to “create new products, improve operations, and take risks… where innovation isn’t just a buzzword, but a part of the value system and culture.”

"For us, innovation is more than great liquids, packaging, new production techniques and different ways to get to market,” says Ed Pilkington, Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer, Diageo North America. “Innovation is embedded within our business – it drives our ways of working, our thinking and behaviors, it allows us to create a culture for today’s fast-paced, competitive marketplace, while focusing on tomorrow’s exciting opportunities."

Diageo’s brands were created by entrepreneurs, many of them developed by founders decades and even centuries ago, and this culture of bold ideas and experimentation continues to run deep across our organization today. Diageo’s leadership team strives to set the tone of ownership and entrepreneurialism that aims to empower throughout our organization, at all levels, embedding real passion for continuous testing and learning in everything we do.

This open-minded and flexible people-empowered approach enables and encourages teams to try new things, explore new external partners and undertake new approaches. It gives employees the freedom to move quickly and take bolder bets across the organization and in culture. Whether it be through a new open, agile workspace in lower Manhattan, or the recent seamless transition to virtual, remote working, Diageo North America is constantly finding ways to celebrate life every day, everywhere, and it always starts with our people.
