Ivan Menezes, Chief Executive opened the day by highlighting the opportunity for Diageo to grow and touching on the changes we've made over the past few years that make us a stronger and fitter business. He also demonstrated that Diageo has the brands and the footprint to win in what is an attractive, growing industry.

Syl Saller, Chief Marketing Officer and Andrew Geoghegan, Global Consumer Planning Director outlined our approach to consumer insights, segmentation and measurement and how we are using these industry-leading capabilities to drive growth. Syl also talked through some of the key trends we have identified, including new world disorder, advanced living, the rise of holistic products and the impact of technology, democratisation of status and an ageless population .

John O’Keeffe, President, Diageo Africa highlighted opportunities in Africa across beer and mainstream spirits and demonstrated how the work we have done to broaden our portfolio both across TBA (beer, spirits and RTD) and price points will help us capture the opportunity here and now while also shaping the alcohol market in Africa.

Deirdre Mahlan, President, Diageo North America outlined our strategy to drive consistent growth through recruiting more consumers by winning with the right brands in the right occasions at the right price. North America is one of the most attractive and dynamic markets and we have made the changes needed to deliver growth.

Anand Kripalu, CEO United Spirits talked about the great opportunity that is our business in India. We have made great progress over the last three years, transforming nearly every aspect of the business while delivering ambitious performance outcomes.

John Kennedy, President, Europe Russia and Turkey focused on prioritising Scotch whisky in F17. He demonstrated how our scotch strategy is working, with scotch returning to broad-based growth across our portfolio and regions.

Kathy Mikells, Chief Financial Officer concluded by sharing the confidence the team has in delivering our medium-term guidance of mid-single digit top-line growth, 100 basis points of margin expansion and £500 million in cost savings – of which two thirds will be invested in our brands.
