Diageo ranked fourth in the 2018 Thomson Reuters Diversity & Inclusion Index
Diageo has been named amongst the top 25 most diverse and inclusive companies for a third consecutive year, in the 2018 Thomson Reuters Diversity & Inclusion Index – ranking 4th out of the top 100 publicly traded companies in this globally recognised list.

Diageo has been recognised as the fourth most diverse and inclusive workplace in the 2018 Thomson Reuters Diversity & Inclusion Index published today. The ranking is a recognition of the strong progress we have made to champion diversity and inclusion within our business and beyond.
Launching in 2016, the Thomson Reuters Diversity & Inclusion Index ranks the top 100 publicly traded companies globally with the most diverse and inclusive workplaces. Having ranked 11th in the 2016 inaugural list, Diageo successfully climbed to 5th position in 2017 and has now ranked 4th in this year’s list.

Commenting on the results, Mairead Nayager, Chief Human Resources Officer, said:

In July we were celebrated in the 2018 Cranfield School of Management Female FTSE Board Report for leading the FTSE 100 for the representation of women on boards. Additionally, 2018 has seen Diageo become a member of Open for Business, a global coalition of businesses committed to advocating for LGBT+ inclusion as well as pledging to ‘Free the Bid’ in a move to promote equal opportunities for women working in the advertising industry.

The Thomson Reuters Diversity & Inclusion Index ranks the top 100 companies based on a set of 24 separate diversity and inclusion metrics. These metrics cover four key categories: Diversity; Inclusion; People Development and News Controversies. Using the data gathered, each company is assigned a score for each of the four key categories. These metrics are then weighted for importance in the market, and updated continuously, to assess how a company compares against its peers to develop the ranking.
