A unique production facility in North America celebrates its past, its present and its future
Feature 27 JUL 2017
Diageo North America’s Plainfield, Illinois facility is a unique place. From its 50 year legacy, to the fact that it’s the only site of its kind in Diageo, it’s a place full of life and stories. After all, it’s the only location in Diageo that houses both a technical center, and a full, state-of-the-art production facility. This combination of capabilities enables optimal teamwork between liquid scientists, packaging specialists, innovation experts, and the actual production of brands including Smirnoff Vodka, Smirnoff Flavored Vodka, Smirnoff Ice, Gordon’s Gin, Gordon’s Vodka, Captain Morgan Rum, Seagram’s 7-Crown Whiskey, Rumple Minze, Blackhaus, Bulleit Bourbon, Crown Royal Canadian Whiskey, Myers’s Rum, George Dickel, Jeremiah Weed, Grind, CannonBlast and LocoNut.
On any given day, a project manager working on a renovation or innovation project can gear up and step on to the floor to check the line running a product. This gives way to seamless collaboration and provides teams with a unique way of hands-on problem solving.
But Plainfield is also unique because of its people; they come from all parts of the world and have many different areas of expertise. Some have worked at this facility over 40 years. In fact, many of our Plainfield employees are not the first generation to work there. Take a moment to watch this video commemorating the first 50 years of this incredible place, hear our people’s stories told in their own words, and find out for yourself what makes Plainfield so special.
