A message from our Human Resources Director, Mairéad Nayager for International Women's Day

This International Women's Day feels particularly pertinent to me as I write this from maternity leave, having recently become a mother to a daughter, Maeve. Becoming a mum, I am struck more than ever of the importance of building a world which is more equal and fair for women in all aspects of life and the role we can all play in driving change.
At Diageo, 2018 has already been an exciting year for our D&I strategy. In January, we were listed in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index and our CEO, Ivan Menezes became a signatory to the 30% Club. In February, we pledged to 'Free the Bid', calling on our advertising agencies to put forward at least one female director for every creative bid. This month, Smirnoff joined forces with Spotify to promote female musicians. In April, our Board will achieve full gender parity.
There is much to celebrate but our work to #PressForProgress does not stop here. We've publically stated that we want to be the best employer for women in the UK and globally we're focusing on developing a strong pipeline of female talent for all roles.
