A message from our Chief HR Officer, Mairéad Nayager for International Women's Day

This International Women’s Day, we are championing the inspiring women and men within our business, while working to shift the dial in favour of greater gender balance in our business and beyond. This includes sponsoring a scheme supporting 50 women to return to work in the creative industries and hosting celebrations in our offices around the world.
We are committed to this year’s theme ‘Balance for Better’ because we firmly believe that gender balanced businesses are better places to work and they perform better. We’re proud of our achievements so far – from having an Executive Committee which is 40% female to being ranked by Thomson Reuters as the 4th most inclusive and diverse company in the world. Our ambition for balance doesn’t stop here. We’re working to have a senior leadership team which is 40% female by 2025, and doing more to increase the number of women in STEM roles.
More broadly, celebrating our inclusive and diverse culture is core to Diageo's purpose of ‘celebrating life every day everywhere’. For us, ‘Balance for Better’ is also about being a great place to work for people of every background, experience and capability - from supporting and celebrating our LGBTQ+ employees and those of every ethnicity, thinking style and more.
From a personal perspective, as I celebrate my second International Women's Day as a working mum, I’ll be reflecting on what more I can do to contribute to building a balanced world for my daughter. We all have a role to play in pushing forward this important agenda.
