Businesses united in commitment to responsible sourcing in Africa

Case study

More than 100 regional stakeholders including representatives from major consumer goods companies and their suppliers came together to reinforce their commitment to responsible sourcing in Africa in November 2014.

Co-hosted by Diageo and Coca-Cola under the umbrella of the AIM-PROGRESS industry association, global businesses and suppliers met in Nairobi and Lagos to share best practice and provide information, resources and tools to ensure suppliers understand and comply with responsible sourcing standards. Case study and group work focused on key topics such as overtime, labour contract management, health and safety, and management systems.

Collaborations like these are an essential part of Diageo's approach to sourcing responsibly – we believe working with partners, other consumer goods companies, and industry associations is the best way to improve standards. AIM-PROGRESS, a global forum of over 40 FMCG manufacturers and suppliers which promotes responsible sourcing practices and sustainable production systems, plays a vital role in our approach.
