#beboldforchange: celebrating International Women's Day
Case study 08 AUG 2017
We're proud of our inclusive and diverse culture and the progress we've made - but we know there's more we can do as a business and as individuals. That's why we chose to celebrate and share our achievements on International Women's Day, while encouraging ourselves to #beboldforchange.
In March 2017, employees all over the world joined in our biggest-ever celebration of International Women's Day, with senior leaders playing a key part as we hosted 14 events ranging from meet-ups to panel discussions. Our launch video on Diageo TV and our lead stories on our Mosaic intranet were supported by bespoke posts and pictures on social media and conversations on our internal Yammer platform. Posters, plasma displays, tweets and profiles all added to the buzz - and with 1,470 employees getting involved, and 27,350 engagements on external social media, we're confident the celebration had an impact.
International Women's Day is just one part of our overall drive to achieve diversity and inclusivity, which is a priority for our business. This year, more than 30% of leadership positions were held by women, a milestone we achieved ahead of our target of 2020. We know this is important for our business success - and to our employees, 72% of whom told our Values Survey they believe "Diageo makes the most of our people’s diverse thinking, styles and backgrounds to improve business performance".
