North America

Diageo North America is the largest market in terms of net sales and operating profit. It is also the largest market for premium drinks in the world. It includes both the United States and Canada, and presents good growth opportunities as consumer trends indicate a shift towards choosing premium brands.

Europe

Diageo Europe accounts for about a third of our total business and operates across six 'hub' units: Great Britain, Ireland, Iberia, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Russia and Eastern Europe. This presents a region with a rich range of cultures and opportunities.

Asia Pacific

Diageo Asia Pacific comprises India, the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Indochina, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific. The region markets, and distributes, a broad collection of our brands to a diverse range of consumers. Our partnerships within the region provide efficient routes to markets for our brands, build insights into consumer trends, and provide a good platform for mutual learning and growth.

We operate in approximately 180 markets within these four regions. In our financial year ending June 2009, North America generated around 42 per cent of operating profit, Europe 30 per cent, International 23 per cent and Asia Pacific 5 per cent. During the year consumers enjoyed 80 million measures of our spirits, 18 million glasses of our stout and other beers, five million bottles of our ready to drink brands and two million glasses of our wine.
