As a result, in December 2014, we launched ambitious targets for 2020 for our most material issues, which build on our achievements to date, and are aligned with the emerging UN Sustainable Development Goals.
They focus on the three areas most material to our business:
- LEADERSHIP IN ALCOHOL IN SOCIETY – Create a positive role for alcohol in society through partnerships and programmes which impact misuse
- BUILDING THRIVING COMMUNITIES - Equip people, particularly women, with skills and resources to build a better future for themselves
- REDUCING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT – Make our products and business operations more environmentally sustainable.
The targets draw on our achievements to date and are aligned with emerging United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. They represent an evolution of our approach, from focusing on inputs to focusing on impact. We need to measure what our programmes are delivering for people both within and outside our business, and, over the coming year we will be developing a new framework to enable us to measure and evaluate the tangible difference our programmes make to people’s lives.
Our 2020 targets are summarised below.
