Baileys celebrates its one billionth bottle

Baileys Irish Cream today celebrated the production of its one-billionth bottle of world-class cream liqueur. The historical bottle came off the production line at Baileys Dublin plant at Nangor Road and represents the phenomenal success that Baileys has achieved since the company first produced Baileys 33 years ago in 1974.

The landmark one-billionth bottle was presented to Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Mary Coughlan by two of Baileys longest serving employees, Denis Minihane and Tony Berigan who between have almost 60 years service at Baileys. 

On receiving the bottle Minister Coughlan spoke about the success of Baileys, “as the world’s leading cream liqueur Baileys is a great Irish brand which has consistently grown and succeeded in global markets. It is one of Irish dairy farmers biggest customers with over 5.5million gallons of milk per year being used to produce Baileys.” The Minister added that, “this landmark billionth bottle is a recognition of the quality premium brand that Baileys is and that through continuous innovation and marketing Baileys is going from strength to strength.”

This year alone Baileys have sold over 7 million cases with a global performance of 10% net sales growth driven significantly by growth in North America, Africa and Asia. Sales across Latin America and Caribbean have risen by 32% and Global Travel and Middle East up 11%.  Much of this growth been attained by the successful launch of Baileys Flavours, which have achieved sales of one million cases sold in their first year of launch.
 
Speaking at the presentation Tommy Kinsella, Baileys Global Director of Communications said “Baileys is the world’s No. 1 cream liqueur, it is rated as the world’s No.7 spirit brand and recognised as the 10th most powerful drinks brand across the globe.  We have ambitious plans to continue to build on the success that the one-billionth bottle represents and grow by developing new market opportunities for our unrivalled premium brand.”
