We aim to achieve continuous improvement in environmental performance, concentrating our efforts on areas of greatest impact at our manufacturing, distribution and large office sites – in particular the use of energy, release of greenhouse gases and the management of water and waste.
The Diageo environmental policy ensures that all of our facilities are challenged to keep improving their performance in these areas. All production sites operate an environmental management system and a small but growing number of these are certified to ISO14001.
Performance in areas of most significant impact is monitored at all production sites monthly. Progress towards three-year targets is tracked and ideas for improvements such as saving water or energy or reducing the impacts of waste are regularly shared between sites.
Descriptions of the actions we have taken to enhance our environmental performance and the progress we have made towards our improvement targets are reported annually in Diageo corporate citizenship reports.
